The Art of Zentangle

Mary Stayner taught elementary school for 35 years. Although retired, Mary enjoys substitute teaching and tutoring. She also enjoys writing and illustrating books. Mary has published three books, Chasin, the Bluebird and C.L.A.S.S. (Classroom Language Activities for Special Students), and most recently illustrated Sprinkles in Tangle Town in collaboration with author Peggy Scott from Mesa, Arizona.

Mary and her husband, Jack, live in the small rural community of Stockton, Illinois. They have two married daughters and eight delightful grandchildren. Jack and Mary are the third-generation owners/operators of Stockton Bowling Lanes.

Mary was first introduced to this amazing art form at a Spectacular Texas Art Retreat in 2015 and has been “addicted” ever since. She has been teaching Zentangle for 9 years.

In 2018, Mary became a Certified Zentangle® Teacher (CZT), being trained in the Zentangle Method by the founders, Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas, in Providence, Rhode Island. She has shared her love of Zentangle with all ages and in many venues.
